The flags will be reduced to half the season on Friday to honor a soldier from Michigan who died during a training accident.

The 28-year-old Sergeant Troy Knutson-Collins, the Sergeant Troy Knutson-Collins, died in an accident in Lithuania. Three other soldiers were also killed in the accident.

Governor Gretchen Whitmer praised Knutson-Collins and called him a violent friend and proud son who dedicated his life to the country's service.

The Battle Creek native joined the army in 2018 and served as an artillery mechanic.

The flags return to full staff on May 3.
