Trump's blue suit with Pope Francis' funeral attracts attention

It seems that President Trump is fully committed to international relations – even during the funeral of a Pope.

On Saturday, when he joined other world leaders to show Pope Francis, he stood at St. Peter's Square under President Emmanuel Macron from France (Black), Prime Minister Keir Starrer from Great Britain (in Schwarz), President Javier Milei from Argentina (in black) and Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni of Italy (in black).

Mr. Trump? He was wearing blue.

And not even dark, midnight blue, but a clear, sapphire -like blue, with a suitable tie. In the middle of the black and cardinal red it jumped out like a sign.

The choice did not violate the dress code for the event (which reports a dark suit with a black tie for men). Prince William also seemed to wear blue, although a shadow closer to the navy, and former President Joseph R. Biden Jr. wore a blue tie. But Mr. Trump's look has certainly handled the edges.

It was not unnoticed online when social media users reminded that Mr. Trump had previously criticized President Volodymyr Zelensky from Ukraine for not wearing any suit for a meeting in the Oval Office in February and seeing it as a sign of disregard. (At the Pope's funeral, Mr. Zelensky, who previously met with Mr. Trump privately, wore a black jacket in a military style and black trousers.)

The press spokesman for the White House, who held the choice of Mr. Trump from Trump's election, said: “In addition to our breathtaking first lady, who was perfectly dressed for this occasion, the president looked great and a presidency.”

Steven Cheung, the communication director of the White House, blamed those who criticized Mr. Trump and said: “The President and First Lady have the life and service of Pope Francis and those who try to distract themselves from being distracted.”

For someone who was aware of the power of appearance as Mr. Trump, the suit was probably not a random decision. Not a case, for example, in which there are no clean dark options that are packed on Air Force One. Melania Trump finally wore a black coat (from Italian designer Dolce & Gabbana) and black veil, similar to Brigitte Macron and Jill Biden.

And Mr. Trump has a dark suit – he wore one of the funeral of former President Jimmy Carter in January.

But in this case Black may not serve his purposes. In contrast, Mr. Trump's choice of Deep Sea Blue was immediately recognizable and seemed to be fully agreed with his wish that he plays nobody as his own rules. Another effort to redefine old conditions of the engagement, as he sees – well, fit.
