Video records historical 5th purely female space walk on ISS

According to NASA, NASA astronauts Anne McClain and Nichole Ayers have successfully completed the fifth female space walk in history.

On May 1, 2025, Astronauten McClain and Ayers carried out a space walk outside the International Space Station (ISS), known as US SpaceWalk 93.

According to the Space Agency, it was the 275th space walk to support the assembly, maintenance and upgrade of the space station.

The duo has successfully completed its assigned tasks – the installation of a Rollout Solar Array Modification Kits and the resettlement of a communication antenna on the outside of the ward, confirmed in an explanation of X.

The installation of a assembly clip was installed in order to prepare for the future installation of an additional series of ISS -Rollout solar arrangements, including IROSA. According to the NASA, the arrays will increase the performance of electricity generation by up to 30%, which increases the available power of the station from 160 kilowatts to up to 215 kilowatts.

NASA said that the solar arrays will be added during a future space walk as soon as they are given in a mission of the SpaceX Dragon later in 2025.
