Arrest in the 41-year-old Maine murder, say officials, say officials

A man from Bangor was arrested in connection with a 41-year-old murder, announced the Ministry of Public Security in Maine announced on Thursday.

“Linda Maxwell, 18 years old, was last seen on August 23, 1984 in the Calais area after spending the evening with friends,” said the spokesman for the department, Shannon Moss. “Two days later, her body was recovered along the coast of the St. Croix River in Robbinston in Washington County. Despite an extensive examination at that time, the case remained unresolved.”

After an investigation by the Maine State Police, Maine's Attorney General presented the Grand Jury case in Washington County, said Moss. The Grand Jury gave an indictment against Raymond Brown (65) from Bangor and formerly Pembroke with murder.

Brown was custody on Thursday at 4:15 p.m. after a traffic stop at Broadway in Bangor at around 4:15 p.m.

“Brown is taken to the Washington County prison, where he is captured without a deposit,” said Moss.
