The annual prayer breakfast emphasizes the achievements of the Emerald youth

Knoxville, tenn. (Wvlt) thousands in the Knoxville community gathered on Friday morning for the annual prayer breakfast of the Emerald Youth Foundation.

The event emphasized the work that the organization did and collected money to continue to support its programs.

“Last year we served more than 3,300 children, teenagers and young adults in the city,” said John Crooks, director of marketing and communication at Emerald Youth Foundation. The foundation hopes to reach 5,000 children by 2029.

The organization has been around in Knoxville for thirty years and in the north, south, east and west areas of the city. Crooks said the organization was looking for opportunities to further expand this work. Part of it includes that there are enough volunteers to support the service.

“Regardless of whether you train a basketball team or serve a meal on Wednesday evening or organize a degree in a Bible study, whatever it may be, we need more volunteers, and this is a great way to sharpen this awareness,” said Crooks.

You can apply as a volunteer on the website of the Emerald Youth Foundation.
