7 killed in the crash with a tour van and a pickup near Yellowstone

A pickup and a passenger van with a tour group collided on Thursday evening in Idaho near Yellowstone National Park and killed seven people, said the Idaho State Police. Both vehicles caught fire after the crash.

Six of the people killed were in the van, a Mercedes who wore 14 people, the state police said. The driver of the pickup, a Dodge Ram, was also killed.

The crash occurred shortly before 7.15 p.m. on the US Highway 20 near Henry's Lake, a popular place for hiking, cycling and fishing in East -idaho, about 15 miles from Yellowstone. The cause was examined.

The state police said that the authorities would have conjured up a flight truck and other air and soil resources to react to the crash because the injuries have the severity of the injuries.

The forensic doctor of Fremont, Brenda Dye, identified the driver and sole resident of the pick -up as Isaiah Moreno, 25, from Texas. Ms. Dye said that she was waiting for the results of DNA tests to identify the six people in the van who were killed because the body could not be recognized.

All six came from outside the United States, Ms. Dye said in an interview on Friday. Two came from Italy, she said, and it was not clear where the other four came from. They were part of a group that toured Yellowstone, she said.

After the crash, two more jumped out of their vehicle on the highway to help, she said. They tried “pulling out as many as possible” from the van, who radiated smoke, said Ms. Dye. She said they succeeded in helping eight people from the van, including a child before the van caught Feuer.

The US Highway 20 was closed for almost seven hours, while rescue workers and the Idaho transport department worked to manage the scene and clarify the road, the state police said.
