1K gallons of untreated wastewater leaves near River in Blackman Township

Blackman Twp., Mi – A sewerage clog on Friday morning was an estimated 1,000 gallon raw, untreated wastewater on a field in Blackman Township.

The leak was reported early Friday morning, May 2, from a sanitary channel south of the I-94 in the east between N. Blackstone Street and the Grand River in Blackman Township, said Jack Ripstra by Ripstra & Scheppelman Inc., a company to fix problems in the community.

The blocked sanitary channel was opened with a high -pressure jail that restored the river to the sewage system, he said.

An estimated 1,000 gallons untreated wastewater flowed into a field. The pond water was removed and the affected soil treated with lime, said Ripstra.

No contamination of the river near the leak was reported.
