Shocking data details NYC illegal migrant crime

More than 3,200 migrants who were accommodated in tax-funded accommodations were interrupted over a period of almost two years-imposed for violent crimes such as attacks, as shown by the police on Friday.

The new NYPD numbers offer the first data-controlled and the most detailed effects of the city's migrant crisis on crime.

It shows that between January 1, 2023 and October 31, 2024, 3,219 migrants, who live in 48 city accommodation throughout the Big Apple, were arrested a total of 4,884 times.

The crimes included 1,285 petit theft or minor thefts, 544 attacks and 497 cases for dangerous drugs, the top three on a long list of criminal offenses that, according to the data, also contained robberies and sex crimes.

Mayhem, which was triggered by the influx of migrants who arrived in the city in spring 2022, collected headlines and triggered political outrage.

These shocking incidents included the shootout of two NYPD officers in Queens last June, the dispute between a group of migrants and police officers on Times Square in January 2024 and the recent section of 27 alleged members of the violent Venezolan gang tren de Aragua, which won the city in the city.

A few months ago, two migrants were tied up after they allegedly attacked a security officer on the island protection area of Randall, which has since been closed since then. And last year a room of the subway from Pols pulled rough after it turned out that it was an 11-year-old Venezuelan boy.

However, a police officer has never been published before, for which migrants were responsible for crime.

The alleged criminal migrants make up about 4% of the total number of more than 200,000 asylum seekers who have made their way through New York City, according to statistics.

The numbers show that migrants were arrested more than 1,900 times and almost 900 for assault.

The migrants were also distributed almost 500 times for medication and 235 times due to robbery, as the data show.

Three were charged with murder or homicide.

In the 48 accommodations contained in the statistics, around 1,049 crimes were committed-most of them were not opened throughout the entire 22-month period, which includes the data set. About six of them only opened in 2024.

At the height of the crisis, the city had set up more than 200 provisional accommodations in the five districts.

The Adams administration has repeatedly addressed the problem, but blamed a small number of migrants.

“When the mayor found that a massive influx of people who were unable to provide their families, of course lead to some people who committed crimes, he was wrongly accused of being against immigrants,” said Kayla Mamelak, press spokeswoman for Mayor Eric Adams.

“Nevertheless, the urban crime continued and no family with children was forced to sleep on the street.”
