ICE hefainer who was won over a man

The Craven County Sheriff Chip Hughes has repeatedly stated that every city is a border town, since all of criminal illegal foreigners who enter the United States is disadvantageously influenced, and its communities in Craven County are not immune.

In 2022, the new Bern police authority began an investigation in which Jose Angel Alvarado was arrested against a minor child due to an allegations of sexual crimes.

Since 2022, the new Bern police have worked with the US marshal service in the search for Alvarado, but despite its efforts, he managed to withdraw from capture by fled to Mexico.

That was until April 29, 2025, when the law enforcement agencies received information that Alvardo was back in the USA and worked in a company on Emerald Isle. This criminal intelligence agent led to Alvardo found and arrested by agents with the NC alcohol Law Enforcement (ALE) agency.

Alvardo was taken after custody and was charged with indecent freedom because of indecent freedom with a child, the sexual crime with a child who is less than 15 years old.

Alvardo was recorded in the Craven County prison under a bond of $ 1,250,000.

While Sheriff Chip Hughes was processed into the prison of Craven County, he became aware of information that indicated that Alvardo could possibly be illegally in the United States, and due to the seriousness of the alleged crime, he instructed his office to confirm with immigration and customs authorities (ICE). Sheriff Hughes told New Bern Live that Craven County will not now be a protection district for criminal illegal foreigners. Hughes further explained that he will always work with ice and other law enforcement authorities to ensure the security of his district.

Hughes said: “In this case, it is claimed that someone was able to illegally go to our country, travel to our community and sacrifice one of our children.” Hughes also explained: “I encourage all agencies in North Carolina and all over the country to work with ice to eliminate the city policy of the sanctuary and prioritize the protection of citizens that we are sworn to protect.”

The Senator of NC, Thom Tillis, explained on Facebook only one day before Alvardo was custody: “In NC, several counties refuse to work with the federal law enforcement authorities and instead protect dangerous criminal illegals. In this pose (see below) Tillis shared a graphic that identified the jurisdiction of the sanctuary.
