Kimi Antonelli produced a breathtaking last gas to snap at the Miami Grand Prix Weekend Sprint Sprint, and became the youngest driver who started a Formula -1 race from the first in the grid.

The 18-year-old Mercedes driver showed a strong pace during an eventful session before he delivered 1 m 26.482, which was sufficient to exceed the McLarens of Oscar Piatri and Lando Norris by 0.045 and 0.100s.

The Max Verstappen from Red Bull will join Norris in the second row for the 19-round race on Saturday before Mercedes' George Russell. Charles Leclerc put the Ferrari colleague Lewis Hamilton in sixth place, while Alex Albon, Isack Hadjar and Fernando Alonso completed the top 10.

The session proved to be messy at times because teams made miscalculation in the timing of their flying runs. A frustrated Jack Doohan was among those who missed Red Bulls Yuki Tsunoda in SQ1 for Alpine. The couple will start tomorrow from the 17th or 18th race.
