Drug much more deadly than Fentanyl, Carfenanil, combined with death in Santa Clara County

The Bay Area has recorded its first death, which is due to an overdose of a much more effective and fatal fentanyl analogue carfenanil.

Last week's medical examiner's office confirmed that a 39-year-old man who had died of drugs had taken drugs on an overdose, which were put together with Carfentanil, which is 100 times more effective than fentanyl das even 50 to 100 times more effective than heroin or morphine. The male victim was found in the possession of fake M30 pills that are supposed to resemble prescription oxycodon.

“The use of drugs alone increases the risk of death. We call on people to avoid the dangers of opioids, in particular fake pills that may contain Carfenanil or Fentanyl,” said Dr. Michelle Jorden, Chief Medical Examiner by Santa Clara County, in an explanation. “Fake pills look real, but they can be fatal. People shouldn't take a pill that they didn't buy in the pharmacy.”

In contrast to Fentanyl, Carefentanil was never approved for human consumption and was used to calm elephants. It is fatal for humans, even in the tiny quantities – and we have previously heard that only a few grains of fentanyl can kill a person who has not developed tolerance.

“What I am really concerned – and the reason why I want people to be made aware of it is that some of the pills sold by the street may be put together with Carfenanil,” said Dr. Jordan and spoke to ABC 7.

Carfentanil has not yet been found in the local drug supply in the Bay Area, and this death comes at a time when civil servants of the public health system are also concerned about the occurrence of another potentially deadly additive, which is also intended for veterinary use, medetomidine, also known as “Rhino Tranq”. The drug appeared in the autopsy of a woman who died in San Francisco in February.

As the chronicle states today, an overdose of Carfenanil can be reversed with Narcan, but probably several high doses have to be administered.
