Columbus ATF Field Division shows the firearm trade to Mexico

The Columbus Field Division of alcohol, tobacco, firearms and explosives (ATF) organized a press conference to highlight its recent efforts to combat the shot in Mexico.

According to Thomas Greco, the responsible special agent, cartels have used weapons from the USA over the past four years to create, sell and participate in networks in the United States to buy and participate illegal activities such as arms trade, fentanyl trade and human smuggling.

“We are still obliged to work with our local, state and federal partners in order to follow the trail of weapons and to disturb the firearm flow to criminals.”

So far, the ATF said in 2025 that they initiated and confiscated 15,825 cases of violent crime:

  • 18,286 firearms
  • 13,031 parts and accessories for firearms
  • 1,161,501 ammunition rounds
  • 13,304 different explosives

“We use standard dates to find out where the firearms were bought,” said Greco.

Some of the weapons shown by the Columbus ATF were: Ohio regulation M2 .50 Caliber, FN M240 7.6 mm, FN M249 5.56 and the semi-automatic rifle of Barrett M82 .50. Cartels are based on certain firearms, such as B. the big calibers to facilitate, expand and protect their criminal company, said the ATF.
