Scottie Scheffler shoots the best 36-hole

Scottie Scheffler has achieved a meteorical climb to the top rank of the world rankings. On Friday he wrote some personal history at the CJ Cup Byron Nelson on Friday:

His lowest score with 36 holes on the PGA tour.

After the missing CJ Cup Byron Nelson last year, Scheffler returned to McKinney, Texas. The world No. 1 shot 61 on Thursday and supported it on Friday with a 63 to get to the clubhouse with 18 under.

The TPC Craig Ranch is one of the simplest courses on the PGA tour and has produced low scores in each of the four editions of its tour event. The winning points of 23 under 26 under 26 years since the event in 2021. But nobody ever had a 36-hole start like Scheffler.

Scheffler's record started on Thursday with a Bogy-Free 10-Unter 61, the second lowest round of his PGA tour career. He made four successive birdies from the third hole to the sixth and put an exclamation on his front nine with a tap-in eagle on the ninth Par-5. He made three more birdies on the back nine for a two-shot lead against Rico Hoey and Jhonattan Vegas, each shot 63.

The conditions were extremely soft on Friday after a six -hour weather delay stopped the game. With eight holes in the morning, Scheffler was even a round and 10 under the tournament. He then made an eagle on the ninth Par-5 hole when he blew in the area with electricity.

After the delay, Scheffler switched it on. He bird six of the nine holes on the last nine and used the receptive greens.

In his two rounds, Scheffler took the 12th place in the approach, the 9th place from the tee and the 11th place in the putte.

Due to the weather delay, the second round still had to complete half of the field. In view of the fact that he plays, Scheffler will be difficult to catch.
