Charge for shooting in Minneapolis, which killed 4, including St. Paul Man – Twin Cities

A suspect was charged with the mass shooting on Tuesday in South Minneapolis, in which four people and another injured person were left behind.

The 27 -year -old Evan Ramon Denny from St. Paul was one of the fatally injured, the office of the medical examiner of the Hennepin County announced on Friday.

After a multi-day search by the US marshal service, the FBI and the Minneapolis police were arrested on Thursday. The public prosecutor of the Hennepin district said on Friday that he was charged with three second degree murder and two charges for the second degree.

Since a fourth person died on Thursday, an additional second degree is obtained, the district's public prosecutor said. Ortley was also charged with a second degree conviction for assault on the second degree because of a second degree conviction due to an illegal possession of a firearm.

The police said they believe that the shootout was targeted and gang -related on Tuesday. The victims were all American native.

The investigators also believe that a fifth person who was identified on Friday as Tiago Antonio Gilbert (34) from Minneapolis was killed in retaliation hours later.

Shortly before midnight on Tuesday, the Minneapolis police in the 1500 block of the East 25th Street were called in reports on shots.

A witness later told the police that “Little James”, who were identified as Ortley by the law enforcement authorities, was a friend of one of the victims. He was in a vehicle with his victims when he shot everyone in the head.

Other people reported that the five victims in the residence of a friend in the family in South Minneapolis were together and their plans were to pick up “Baby J”, another nickname from Ortleys. It was known that he was “a close family friend of the victim,” said the complaint.

According to the complaint, Ortley is associated with the local mob gang that did not show a motive for the shootings.

Together with Denny, the medical examiner's office said that the following people were killed: Joseph Douglas Goodwin (17) and Tiago Antonio Gilbert (34), both from Minneapolis, and Merelle Joan White (20) from Red Lake.

Another woman who was also shot remains to the hospital in a critical condition.
