Red Sox 'Triston Casas with knee injury to the hospital

Boston – Red Sox First Baseman Triston Casas suffered what manager Alex Cora described as a “significant” injury to the left knee after he was uncomfortable against the Minnesota Twins on Friday evening.

After Boston's 6-1 win, Cora said Casas was taken to a local hospital where he carried out further tests on his knees. He said the team would have more information on Saturday.

Casas sent a slow scooter to the first base line that the Twins starter Joe Ryan Bobbbobb before he made the first Baseman Ty France. Casas, who was safely ruled in the Ryan error, collapsed on the floor and held his knee when he crossed the bag.

He was carried on a stretcher from the field and replaced by Romy Gonzalez.

“It seemed shocked to be honest,” Cora told reporters. “He immediately said he didn't feel it. …. it's hard.

“He took so much effort in the off -season. I know how it works. Everything he did in the low season was prepared for it. He was looking forward to having a big season for us. It didn't start as he wanted it, but he continued to work.

Casas competed on Friday and scored in 28 games with three homes .184.
