Fuentes breaks a single year RBI record, but Gauchos drop both games from Doubleheader

Northridge, California – – – The UC Santa Barbara Softball Team (27-23, 16-10 Big West) reduced both games from the DoubleHeader on CSUN on Friday afternoon. The Gauchos could not find any timely hits when they left 11 runners on the basis, seven of whom came in game two. Despite the trigger of the Matadors, the Gauchos fell.

Play one: Gauchos 2, Matadors 3
After a goalless start, the Matadors took the lead in the third inning on a solo Homerun and took the lead 1-0. The Gauchos answered in the fifth inning. With the two losses, the Gauchos will be No. 3, 4 or 5 seeds in the Big West Championships 2025 next week. Santa Barbara is currently in third place because it is a game behind CSUN in the overall ranking and a game of 0.5 on Hawai'i.
