Video shoots light into the reaction of officers at Morgan Hill Safeway Shooting – NBC Bay Area

A newly published video leaves light the moment it shoots in a Morgan Hill Safeway in a Morgan Hill Safeway last month.

The video published by the Morgan Hill police authority begins with civil servants who react to a disorder in the grocery on April 18 shortly after midnight.

The police said 40-year-old Sjaun Hillman from Van Nuys went into the shop with a large kitchen knife. He ignored the employees who asked him to go, and also ignored the officials of the officials to drop the knife.

Body CAM film material also showed an official who applied for so-called “less fatal strength”, such as bean sac rounds and taser.

The officials then began to evacuate customers by investigators. Hillman went into the back of the business and met an employee with a wine bottle.

When officers came across the victim, they also discovered Hillman. They tried to break him, but it didn't work.

Hillman then started throwing wine bottles on officers. Before a shot was fired, it missed that. After another attempt to de -escalate the situation, Hillman grabbed a shop exhibition and accused an officer of a bottle of wine.

The officers then shot shots.

Hillman was shot in the leg and taken into custody.

Michael Leininger, a former police officer and law enforcement consultant in San Jose, said that the official's answer was appropriate.

“An officer who was very quiet reacted appropriately with the sole exception of the business should have been evacuated immediately,” he said. “You could have had a hostage barricade situation. The blade on this knife was 8 inches long. It could have ended much, much worse than it.”

Leininger said he thinks the officer may have tried to de -escalate the situation for too long because the business was not completely evacuated. He added that shooting was “justified”.

“The suspect is lucky that he was only hit in the leg. But if the officer had used fatal violence, it would have been a justified shooting,” he said.

The Safeway employee was hospitalized after the incident.

Hillman is now being charged with several crimes and the district attorney is examined and has to decide whether the shootout was justified.
