At least 7 people who were killed in the Van van -fall tour near the Yellowstone National Park

A pickup and a tour of a tour with foreigners – including two people from Italy – collided on a motorway to the Yellowstone National Park and let seven people and eight more injured, the Idaho state police said.

The crash occurred on Thursday (May 1, 2025) on the US Highway 20 near Henry's Lake State Park in Eastern Idaho shortly before 7.15 p.m. (May 1, 2025), the police said in a press release. The State Park is around 26 kilometers west of Yellowstone National Park.

The police did not say exactly what the wreck caused, but the Dodge Ram truck traveled west, while the Mercedes -Van traveled east towards Yellowstone when it happened. The video from the scene showed clear weather conditions at that time.

Both vehicles catch fire, the police said. The driver of the pickup and six people in the Mercedes passenger van died. The truck driver was identified on Friday (May 2, 2025) as Isaih Moreno (25) from Humble, Texas. According to the police, the identification of the others will take some time.

The forensic doctor of Fremont County, Brenda Dye, told The New York Times That she was waiting for DNA test results to identify the six others because the bodies were not recognizable. She said all six came from the USA from the USA from Italy and it was not immediately known where the others came from, she said.

The van wore a tour group of 14 people, and the surviving residents were brought to hospitals with injuries, said police spokesman Aaron Snell.

Two were flown to a hospital in Idaho Falls and one was flown to a Bozeman, Montana in the hospital, according to the police. Their conditions were not released. The others were brought to area hospitals, with it assuming that they are not life -threatening, the police said.

The crash is examined.

Roger Merrill (60) drove home when he saw how flames the two vehicles had devoured when the spectators tried to take care of the van on the side of the highway. Merrill said he often sees tourist cars on the highway.

“It is a very dangerous motorway because it leads to the main entrance of Yellowstone National Park,” he said. “It's very busy.”

Merrill raised a video of the wrecks with smoke that covered the van. Due to the remote location, Merrill said that he is looking forward to the help of first aiders.

“It took an annoying time until help only because of the location,” he said.

The police said on Friday (May 2, 2025) that a representative of a sheriff of the Fremont County arrived shortly after the crash and that Van -inmen injured with the help of spectators when she caught fire.

The state works with local officials to “get answers to what has led to this terrible tragedy,” said Idaho Governor Brad Little in a social media contribution.

The Idaho transport department had identified the motorway for security improvements to reduce the severity of accidents, but the project was still in the research and planning phase. According to the agency, this part of the an average of around 10,500 vehicles in 2023.
