How could Red Sox fulfill the first basis after Triston Casas' '' '' '' '' 'got a signal' “injury”?

Boston – Details remain cloudy about the violation of the left leg, which was suffered by Red Sox first Baseman Triston Casas on Friday evening, but when you consider that he was stretched out and then taken to a local hospital with the ambulance, it is clear that it is serious. For the second time in so many years, the Red Sox, although they hoped for the best in Casas, are faced with the opportunity to miss it over a longer period of time.

“It is an important knee injury,” confirmed manager Alex Cora. “He is currently in the hospital and gets more tests and all of the stuff. We will have more information (Saturday).”

Where does the Red Sox turn at the position with limited depth at the first basis in the organization? Here is a look:

Who can play first and is already on the squad?

Romy Gonzalez is Casas' backup (and effectively his train partner against left -handed), who already accepts 60 ⅔ Innerings this year. The pensioner replaced Casas on Friday and seems to be the immediate.

In addition to Gonzalez, there are not much options for the active squad. Connor Wong Started in the position last year, but the Red Sox didn't like what they saw to mix him there to start in 2025. Rob Refsnyder Has 227 career MLB-Internings in the position, but not since 2020 and the Red Sox tried with little success to make Refsnyder some repetitions there at Triple-A last year. Catcher Carlos Narváez I got a good job at Triple-A with the Yankees (114 Innerings) last year, but the Red Sox gave him no look at it.

David Hamilton Has never played the position in the main leagues. Kristian Campbell Never played in the minor and the Red Sox want to develop him in second place.

What is in Worcester?

This year there were five different players to make the first basis at Triple-A Worcester, including two on the 40-man squad: Vaughn Grissom And Nick Sogard. Grissom, of course a Middle -Infielder, who broke into the Red Sox organization last year, took four experience in the first games on Friday when the club tries to build depth. Sogard, who plays all over the diamond, has seen time for Worcester at five different places.

Grissom is probably the best immediate triple-A solution, since someone with a good amount of large league experience and an insulting advantage on Friday with three homers and an ops of 0.825 in Triple-A.

The Woosox also have Nathan Hickeyveteran Abraham Toro And Alex Binelas as options. The versatile Toro has 365 Big League games and has so far hit well this year (.917 ops), so that it could be in the mix.

The Red Sox also have veteran Yasmani Grandal At Triple-A. Could there be a complicated scenario in which he appears as a backup catcher and either play Wong or Narváez?

Roman Anthony? Rafael -Devers?

There are two well -known options outside the box, which the Red Sox will probably not consider: Roman Anthony And Rafael -devers. If you move one of them to the first basis, a great shock would be – and a departure from what the Red Sox want to do.

Anthony has never played first and the Red Sox want to continue to develop it as an outfield. Just yesterday, the Chief Baseball Officer Craig Breslow told Alex Speier from Boston Globe that such a step is not taken into account at all. If you consider that Anthony is only 20 years old and the SOX concentrate on his long -term development, the scenario is at best a long recording.

“I think only given the age of Anthony there is still an opportunity for him to develop in the outer field,” said Breslow. “Until you feel that this is in a place where it is not just massive ways to take repetitions away, he should concentrate on it,” said Breslow. “And I also think that at some point he will have an impact on our Major League team and will throw another variable into the mix, probably doesn't make much sense if this transition to and sometimes can be difficult.

Devers, who was transferred to a proven hitter this year to take into account Alex Bregman's addition, has never played the first basis at any level of professional rows. Now ask him, in the middle of a season in which he had no defensive work in the game, a big question. It cannot be completely excluded (would the devers won't welcome return to the field?), But is by no means a probable option. And it is too early to entertain what the possible, potential return of Masataka Yoshida could mean for the position mix.

Any external candidates?

A year ago, when Casas tore the cartilage on April 20 in Pittsburgh in Pittsburgh in Pittsburgh, Breslow quickly entered action and added two veterans in quick succession. He acquired Garrett Cooper from the Cubs and signed Dom Smith after Smith had completed a Minor League deal with Tampa Bay.

Veterans in Minor League contracts are usually available around May 1st. Blacksmith Once again is one of them and he is with the Yankees at Triple-A. Mike Ford (Twins), Joey Meneses (Mets), Bligh Madris (Tiger) and even old friend Christian Arroyo (Phillies) are one of the potential adjustments in this boat.
