Triston Casas extended after a “significant” knee injury

Update, 10:27 p.m. ET: Alex Cora spoke to Casas's status after Boston had a 6-1 victory off, and the forecast does not seem to be great. The Red Sox manager said reporters that his first Baseman had suffered a “significant” knee injury, and while he is still in the hospital, it is certain that he will be on the road for a long time.

Cora added that Casas seemed to be “shocked” when he followed him immediately after the injury.

“I know how hard it works, everything he did in the low season,” said Cora. “In the end we are humans. We suffer with them and it was difficult to see.”

A terrible start to the 2025 season may have become catastrophic for Boston Red Sox Triston Casas on Friday evening. Casas was forced to leave Boston's game against the Minnesota Twins after suffering a very scary injury: the earlier election in the first round tried to hit a floor ball to the first basis, but his knee snapped when he ran through his pockets and broke to the ground.

Casas was on the floor for a few minutes and finally had to be counted from the field to the clubhouse in Fenway Park.

In view of the awkwardness of the piece – and how painful the reaction was – it is too easy to take over the worst here. It would obviously be a devastating blow for the first Baseman to show signs that he was finally pulled out of his radio in the early season in the past few days.

It would also be a big blow for the Red Sox, which had captured through his cold spells at Casas and still counted that the 25-year-old was an important piece of the team of the team this season.

Triston Casas Karkt after knee injury against twins

Romy Gonzalez entered the game for Casas in the first basis and would enjoy the position if Casas had to be forced to miss a lot of time. Boston also has a fascinating option in Triple-A: Vaughn Grissom, which has played more and more on the cold corner and has recently swung a very hot bat.

Gonzalez is more valued for its versatility and has fought for right -handed pitching in the past. Grissom would be the likely choice as an everyday first Baseman in the absence in Casas, since his observation staff with the Atlanta Braves and its impressive sportiness. During his press conference after the game, Cora added that the team had not yet sorted its plan through the position, a plan that should become clearer in the coming days if Boston collects further information.

Of course we are standing here, because we still don't know how much time Casas could be missed. If it is as serious as it looked, it would be the second year in a row in which the season in Casas was interrupted by a significant injury: in 2024 it was limited to just 63 games with a rib injury that had turned it off from April to August and seemed even after he had returned.
