The Afghan refugee killed in Houston during the dispute in the parking lot. Shooter is not charged

Houston, Texas (KTRK) – Members of the Afghan community in Houston want to answer after a man who fatally shot an Afghan refugee.

Abdul Rahman Waziri, who worked with the US special units before he fled his home country when it fell on the Taliban, was shot several times in his apartment complex in West Houston on Sunday evening.

“He came here to be safe, and when he came, this happened to him,” said the victim's brother, Abdullah Khan.

The shooter brought up on the night of the shootout, but the police said the public prosecutor refused to raise charges.

“We believe that this was a public execution. There is no other way to call it,” said Omar Khawaja, a lawyer who represents Waziri's family.

Khawaja says Waziri drove up to check his post when another man was angry about where Waziri had parked.

According to witnesses, the lawyers say they interviewed that the man began to destroy Waziri's car, and the two men came to beat.

“After the argument is already over and Mr. Waziri goes back to his car, Shooter grabs a gun and murdered it. He carries it out in cold blood,” said Khawaja.

The police say that a man at the crime scene had identified as a shooter and told an official that he and the victim argued about parking.

After an explanation of the man and the conversation with the DA office, the police published the shooter, who, according to the community leaders, still lived in the apartment complex in which the shootout took place.

“Everyone was afraid when the murderer lives among us, he killed someone yesterday and is here again here again,” said Omer Yousafzai, an Afghan community leader.

“We want the guy to be arrested and he went before me. That is unacceptable,” said Khan.

On Friday afternoon, Khan and about two dozen others took their concerns about the police.

Eyewitness News stood when they marched into the HPD headquarters, some with handheld signs that demanded justice.

The officials met with Khan and his lawyer, who said he had converted the names of witnesses, of whom the police had not yet interviewed.

After the meeting, he said that he was more optimistic about the police investigations than he came in.

The office of the Da refused to comment.
