There is no entitlement to the severity of Triston Casas' knee injury

Casas was taken off the field on a stretcher in the second inning after stumbling to the ground to hit a throw to the first basis.

He clung to his knee when he went down and put on with an empty facial expression.

“It seemed shocked to be honest with them,” said Cora.

The Fenway Park fell calmly when Casas was rolled off the field and taken to a hospital for tests. The Red Sox beat the twins 6-1, but that seemed to be a secondary story.

When Casas returns this season, it won't be long and that is a big loss. Casas didn't hit well, but from 2002 to 2004 he had an OPS and 42 Homeruns over 222 games. The SOX counted on him to deliver power in the middle of the order.

What now?

SOX -officers discuss that after the game and there is a wide selection of options.

Romy Gonzalez is the first Baseman to at least temporarily take on the job.

Outfield Rob Refsnyder started 27 games on the first basis in his career, but has not played since 2020.

Triple A player Yasmani Grandal, Vaughn Grissom, Nathan Hickey, Nick Sogard and Abraham Toro have at least some experiences on the first basis, but probably not enough to take on the job regularly.

Both catchers Carlos Narváez and Wong played some of the first foundations, but they have to catch.

Gonzalez and Sogard seem to be at least one temporary patch if other options are taken into account.

Since people seem to believe that the first basis is simple, there will be suggestions to use Rafael Devers or Trevor Story there. Or call Roman Anthony or Marcelo Mayer and see what they look like.

A Major League game is not the second game of an American Legion Douleheader. An inexperienced first Baseman dragged the rest of the inner field down.

The risk of an injury due to the use of Anthony or Mayer in a position that you have never played would be the misconduct in front office.

Anthony Rizzo is still a free agent, and a return to the organization that designed him in 2007 would be quite a story.

Craig Breslow was also able to search Triple A and find at least one reasonable player, as they had with Dom Smith last season, when Casas failed from April 21 to August 16 with torn rib cartel.

In fact, Smith is with the Yankees in Triple A. There could be a way to get rid of him.

Cora didn't try to pretend that the Sox would easily find out. When Casas was marked by the field, he worried him.

“It's shit to be honest,” he said. “This is the part you don't like the job when people are injured and when they have to send people down.

“They made so much effort in the low season and work to play more than 162, and then something like this happens. That is the reason why we don't take it for granted.”

Cora said Casas comes to the park at 10 a.m. and only goes midnight.

“He loves to be a big Leaguer,” said the manager. “At the moment I think it is being taken away.”
