Trump Administration has settled with Maine to restore frozen remedies towards trans -athlete -fehde

The Trump administration and Maine achieved an agreement in which the funds for school children were restored, said Attorney General of Maine on Friday, part of a feud between the President and the governor of the state on guidelines for transgender athletes.

Attorney General of the State, Aaron M. Frey, said that his office had withdrawn a lawsuit that had lodged an objection to financing freezing that had kept around 3 million US dollars, he estimated and was initiated by agriculture last month. The federal dollar, said Frey in an interview, paid for the preparation of food in schools and childcare centers and also help to feed disabled adults in meetings.

The agricultural department, which did not react immediately to a request for a comment, had said that freezing would not escape food for children.

The conflict between President Trump and Main's governor Janet Mills, a democrat, escalated in February at an event in the White House. Mr. Trump said Ms. Mills that with his executive regulation, the transgender athletes in participating in participating in women's and girls' sports, she “better adhere to”. The governor, whose state has refused to follow the order, replied: “See you in court.”

The Minister of Agriculture Brooke Rollins quoted the lack of willingness of the state to comply with the executive regulation when the federal funds were frozen. In a statement in April, she said that her agency checked the grants granted to Maine by Biden administration and described it as potentially “wasteful, superfluous or otherwise against the priorities of the Trump administration”.

Five days later, Mr. Frey filed his complaint and said that the break affects children and endangered adults.

“The food not only buys itself, delivers itself, cooking itself,” said Frey on Friday and added that the Trump government tried to “harass” Maine. “The message here is if you do not follow the law and try to address Maine without relying on a law to support it, we have to bring you to court.”

The White House postponed a comment to the agricultural department.

In a statement, Ms. Mills said that the Trump administration “had an illegal attempt to freeze critical funds”. But the agreement, she said, will save healthy meals for around 170,000 schoolchildren in all of Maine.
