“When we received the news, it was like a blow between the eyes,” said Graves' father Gary.

In April, however, the medical examiner's office decided that the death of Kevin Graves was “indefinite” after her months of examination. Her office announced 7 News Detroit that it complicated how much they could learn because they worked with only skeletal remains.

“I still don't know why they can't find anything. There were remains. I am not an anthropologist, but they would think they would have found something,” said Kathy from Kevin Graves. “It just leaves more unanswered questions.”
