The judge emphasizes the importance of the jury obligation

A look at the importance of judge Amy Lukasavitz's juries.

The job of the jury may not be at the top of your wish list in life. But it is an important part of our democracy and judicial system.

Therefore, the highest judge of the Supreme Court of Minnesota, Natalie Hudson, explained the jury appreciation week.

Judge Amy Lukasavitz said she remembered that she was sitting on a jury 25 years ago and helped her choose a career. “It was for me for a lifetime,” she said.

Now, as a judge, she is aiming to thank the juries that serve. “Many of the jurors I spoke to got my lectures and I didn't want to do that. But then these voyages tell me that this was a really interesting, rewarding experience. And that they understood the judicial system more,” she said.

Some sights and buildings were red, white and blue during the week.
