Francis Ngannou discusses the reported participation in the fatal crash

The former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou made his first public comment on a tragic incident in which he was involved in the Cameroon last month.

According to several camera news agencies, the 38 -year -old Ngannou hit a young woman on the street when he drove his motorcycle on the Easter weekend. The unnamed woman was taken to the hospital in Yaoound, the country's capital, and was subjected to an emergency operation before dying from her injuries.

Ngannou gave TMZ Sports an explanation on Friday.

“From the beginning, I was at the side of the family during this time and offers support, comfort and deep condolences,” said Ngannou. “I met them privately with them to take part in their grief, and I will continue to stand with them at every step.

According to reports, the Cameroonian officials are still investigating the incident.

Ngannou left the UFC in 2023 after the two sides had not agreed to extend the contract. He signed with Pfl, but took a break from MMA to realize his lifelong dream of professional boxing. He fought Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua in 2023 and 2024 and lost both fights.

Ngannou returned to MMA in October to face Renan Ferreira and recorded a TKO in the first round in his plant debut. Before his MMA returned, he suffered a tragic personal loss when his little son Kobe died unexpectedly on his brain due to a fatal malformation.
