WASHINGTON – In the house committee for monitoring and government reform of the Republican reconciliation calculation, republican reconciliation, Congressman Ayanna Pressley (MA-07) The Republicans beat their complicity and willingness to enable hunger and nutritional uncertainty by supporting the proposed cuts of the law for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). In response to the change from Rep. Lateefah Simon (CA-12) to restrict the reduction of the SNAP limitation, the MEP Pressley called for the Republicans to the families, who would be hungry through this reconciliation calculation-and she was put with silence.

The MEP Pressley also introduced several changes to the legislation to better reveal who is damaged by the draft law and to defend hard -earned services for veterans and people with disabilities.

The changes to the MEP Pressley for the Reconciliation Act would be:

  • Make sure that federal employees who are veterans or have disabilities, can keep their ferns engines – a critical, deserved advantage that bridges the gap between early retirement and the beginning of social security.
  • Place the District of Accountability (GAO) to find out how this legislation will have an impact, including women, older Americans, farmers, veterans and employees with disabilities -who devote their lives of providing essential services in communities across the country.

The Republicans rejected every change proposed by Pressley and her democratic colleagues.

House committee for supervision and government reform

April 30, 2025

Congressman Simon, I am so happy that you are here.

I always say that the people who are closest to the pain should be the closest to power. They were closest to the pain and we are so happy that they were here.

You never forget the action and the plot is the people.

I appreciate the congress member for the introduction of this change.

Snap is a real lifeline, and this is a question of life and death.

If Republicans have their way, this reconciliation law will increase hunger and nutritional uncertainty.

More than 42 million Americans – 42 million – take part in SNAP every month. This comprises 16.9 million children, 4.5 million people with disabilities and 1.2 million veterans. Over 1.1 million people in Massachusetts rely on Snap.

Let's talk about economic effects.

Each SNAP advantages of 1 USD generates USD 1.50 in economic activity.

Snap dollars contribute to paying the wages of the grocery business clerk, from truckers who deliver food, manufacturers who manufacture food packaging, and the farmer who cultivates food.

It is nothing efficient to make people hungry and sick.

Is there a single Republican who is willing to comment to ensure that children, people with disabilities and veterans don't get hungry?

Anyone?

Be silent.

This calculation is a shame and a certificate.
