Reading Police Department reacts to a fatal accident with four vehicles on Route 28

Reading boss David Clark and the deputy chief Christine Amendola report that the Reading Police Department reacted to a fatal collision with four cars on Friday evening in Main Street (Route 28).

On Friday, May 2, at 10:06 p.m., the emergency services received almost a dozen 911 calls for a collision at the intersection of the streets of Main and Hopkins.

According to a preliminary investigation, a 2006 gray Volvo XC70 2006 was at high speed towards the south on the Main Street. At the same time, a Green Ford Fusion 2014 drove in the Hopkins Street in the direction of the intersection with the Main Street.

According to the preliminary examination, the Volvo allegedly led a red light at the intersection of the streets of the Main and Hopkins and met the driver -side door of the Ford.

The Ford then turned north to traffic in the Main Street and collided with a 2014 Gray Audi Q7. The Volvo collided with a Gray Toyota Rav4 from 2018 after the first collision.

The driver of the Volvo was taken to a local hospital. The Ford driver was declared dead by reading firefighters and paramedics. A passenger of the RAV4 was also injured and taken to a local hospital.

The crash is examined by the Reading Police Department with the support of the Massachusetts State Police Collision and accident reconstruction (cars).
