Father who lost a daughter in miscontinuation of falling to prevent more prevention after a fatal Sawgrass Expressway Wrack

A false fall on the Sawgrass Expressway left one person and another driver in a critical condition late Thursday evening.

The crash occurred in the southern lane near the University Drive in Coral Springs shortly before 11.10 p.m.

It happened in almost the same place where two young women were killed in a false fall from 2013, and CBS News Miami spoke to that Father of one of these teenagerswho focused on preventing more false crashes.

A frontal collision in the same place as another before

According to officials, the devastating accident included two cars that collided head -on. Fire Rescue announced CBS News Miami that one person was killed and another critically injured. The crash caused traffic problems during the night.

The crash on Thursday evening occurred in almost the same place 12 years ago as a wreck when a convicted drunk driver Marissa Catronio and her best friend Caitlyn Ferrante killed.

Marissa's father, Gary Catronio, has worked on ending false accidents since his daughter's death.

“We lost two lives that night and it could have been prevented,” he told CBS News Miami.

Catronio is responsible for the fact that the starting ramps are installed in all of Florida solar -powered signs that signal a false driver, send a message to 911 and notify other drivers via electronic characters.

“There are other options, but it is a group effort at that time,” he said. “Everyone has to do a bit to make a big difference.”

Catronio has campaigned for a system used in New York in which barriers come out of the ground and draw attention to a wrong driver.

“Florida wants to see more realistic statistics, so I told them: 'Let some drop some into the ground, even with a fire station – let yourself be pulled out in an emergency and read it through,” he said.

Catronio also looks at a Australia system where a stop sign is projected onto the falling water. He said CBS News Miami that he would spend the rest of his life saving others: “And a few more. I will join my daughter again and we'll do it from above.”

Catronio received several million dollars a few years ago to build electronic false signs all over the state, but says that this type of accidents are avoidable despite the continuous work and can only stop after the end.
