A rare Piebald -Hirsch was recorded on Monday by Instagram user @_Christiantiano (video below) a lunch/dinner in Greenbelt, MD. One was also discovered and photographed in Hillandale last November.

Piebald deer are considered rare and occur at a speed of less than 1% of the deer population with white tail. This means that you would find about 1 or less for 1000 white fronds with the Piebald coat pattern. This differs from Albino -Hirsch, which are characterized by a complete lack of pigment and lead to a pure white coat and pink eyes, noses and hooves.

According to the Maryland Department of Natural Resources, the genetic variation of piebald anomaly (defect) creates the pieblald state in white fronds, not in parasites or diseases. (Scoliosis);
