Alex Cora offers a devastating injury update via Red Sox 'Triston Casas

The first Baseman of the Red Sox, Triston Casas, was carried out of the field on a stretcher after stumbling over the first base after he had hit an infield ball back to the Pitcher on Friday evening on Friday evening against Minnesota Twins in Fenway Park.

“It is a significant knee injury. He is more tests and all the stuff in the hospital,” Red Sox Manager Alex Cora told reporters, as can be seen on Nesn's postgame reporting. “We will have more information tomorrow.”

Cora added when he went to the field with the coaches, he believed that Casas was “shocked” when he was lying on the floor.

“He immediately said he didn't feel it,” said Cora. “It's hard. He worked so hard and we wanted him to play in the field. And that happened. They put so much effort into the low season.

“He didn't start it as he wanted, but he ran on, continued to work. And now it happened. We love it. We love it. But in the end we are humans and they suffer. They suffer with them. It was difficult to see him.”

Cora admitted that it is never easy for a player to be injured during a game.

“It is shit to be honest with you,” he said. “This is the part you don't like in the job, right? When people are injured and they send people down (to the minors). It is quite difficult because they are afraid of playing over 162, and then something like this happens.

“That is why we don't take it for granted either. Ecept every day and are a big Leaguer. He loves to be a big Leaguer. He loves it. … At the moment I think it is being taken away, but I told him will be back at one point.

Casas played only 63 games for Boston last season and missed most of the campaign with a rib injury. He lowered .184/.279/.306 with three homes and 11 RBIs in 29 games this season.
