Four people are dead, including children, and several others are injured after a car through a post -school bearing in Chatham, Illinois, the authorities said.

Around 3:20 p.m. on Monday, the police answered after a vehicle had driven through the east side of the Ynot after the school camp, the Illinois State Police announced in a press release. Chatham is south of Springfield.

The vehicle met several people outside the building and entered through the eastern part of the building before leaving the west side of the structure, said Scott Tarter, deputy head of the Chatham Police Department, at a short press conference.

The state police said that deaths are between 4 and 18 years old.

Three of those killed were hit in front of the building while another person was hit inside, the authorities said.

Several people were brought to local hospitals, including a person who was transported by the helicopter, the state police said.

The driver, who was the sole occupant, was unharmed and brought to a local hospital for evaluation, said the state police.

The Chatham police later transferred questions to the state police who had no additional information on Monday. CNN turned into the post -school camp.

Governor JB Pritzker said his administration “monitors” the crash. “Let us wrap our arms around the community tonight while we get updates about the situation,” he said in a post on Facebook.

The video of the scene shows a large building, similar to a gym with a hole on the floor. Several law enforcement vehicles can be seen and a helicopter will fly over the area.

This is a developing history and is updated.
