Reading Ma Main Street Fatal Crash Friday evening – NBC Boston

One person is dead after a driver on Friday evening in Reading, Massachusetts supposedly drove a red light on Route 28 and caused a chain reaction accident in which four cars were involved.

According to Reading Police, you received almost a dozen 911 calls around 10:06 p.m. because of a collision at the intersection of the streets of Main and Hopkins.

The responding officers found a gray Volvo XC70, a green Ford Fusion, a gray Audi Q7 and a gray Toyota Rav4 in a serious accident with injuries.

The police say that the Volvo is on the south of the Main Street at high speed when the merger in the Hopkins Street drove to the east.

Coving a preliminary investigation, the police claimed that the Volvo had led a red light at the intersection and hit a driver's side of the merger, which critically injured driving and turns its merger on the traffic and collided with the Audi. The Volvo then collided with the RAV4 after the first collision.

The merger driver was declared dead on site, the police said. A passenger in the RAV4 was injured and taken to a local hospital. The Volvo driver was also taken to a nearby hospital.

The Main Street was closed in the South Street in the Hopkins Street. The police asked the drivers to avoid the area when they reacted to the scene and carried out their investigation.
