One dead after four cars on Route 28 in Reading

After an accident with four cars on Route 28 in Reading, one person is dead on Friday evening.

Shortly after 10 p.m., the local emergency services received almost a dozen 911 calls for a collision at the intersection of the streets of Main and Hopkins, said the call, shared the Reading Police Department in a post on the Facebook page.

The police said that a 2006 gray Volvo XC70 led the lane towards the south of the Main Street and at the same time the driver of a green Ford Fusion 2014 towards the east in the Hopkins Street towards the intersection with the Main Street.

The police said they believe that the driver of the Volvo blown through a red light and hit the Ford Fusion on the driver's side. The Ford turned into traffic on the north side of the Main Street and collided with a gray Audi Q7.

After the first collision in a Gray Toyota Rav4 from 2018 in a 2018 RAV4, the Volvo killed, the police said.

The driver of the Ford was declared dead at the crime scene, while the driver of the Volvo was taken to a local hospital. A passenger of the RAV4 was also injured and taken to a local hospital, the police said.
