NBA history on the line for the Houston Rockets in game 7

Only 13 teams have overcome a 3-1 series deficit in NBA history, and the Houston Rockets have done it twice so far. If you win game 7 against the Golden State Warriors on Sunday, you will be the only team in the history of the league that does it three times. The Rockets completed the comeback for the first time in 1995 and won a title. The second time they lost in the following round in the conference final.

Usually there is the end of the series. However, the rockets are among the few teams that have overcome the enormous disadvantage.

Did the warriors let go of the rope?

Brian Windhorst mentioned the similarities between the Los Angeles Clippers 2015 and this year's Warriors in the Hoop Collective Podcast. Both played the rockets and led 3-1 in the series. Houston completed a comeback in the 2015 playoffs and won the matchup. This Rockets team has the same chance. Windhorst said

“I will only say that the first step to bring a 3-1 lead in the lead is in game five. That does not mean that you will have a 3-1 lead. I remember that I saw this game in 2015 when the Clipperers blow their first 3-1 lead against the rockets.

In game 5, the Warriors emptied their bank in the third quarter. Head coach Steve Kerr probably wanted to clear his starters the night and rest for game 6. But since the Golden State lost 5 great time in game, most stars had fun on the bench. After game 6, Draymond Green spoke after the game about how the Rockets want to win more. He said

“To beat this team, you had to make the second and third efforts. In the last two games we didn't do that. The reality is the person who will get the ball more. At the moment it seems as if they want it more.”

Although the Stat leaf may not show it, the Warriors played very easily in the last two games. While they surpassed Houston in game 5, their hustle and bustle was not there and Green points to it.

Will the lack of experience of the Rockets cost game 7?

The last time the Rockets played in a game 7 was against the Oklahoma City Thunder in the first round in 2020. No single player from this squad is in this team.

On the other hand, the Warriors played 7 during their championship runs in several games and have a more experienced list. Stephen Curry played 7 with a 3-2 record in five games.

The story is not on the side of the rockets

The Rockets will play against history in game 7. A total of 292 playoff series had a 3-1 deficit. In 279 of them, the team finally won the series. These are astonishing 95.5%.

In the first round there were 89 situations in which a team led 3-1. In 86 of them, the team won the series for a win of 96.6%.

This Warriors team was on both sides of the ball. They previously returned from a 3: 1 deficit. But they have also blown leads. Will Golden State Houson complete? The chances indicate that yes, but the rockets have the chance to write NBA history.
