Red Sox delivers an alarming diagnosis for Triston Casas after an injury at the end of the season

The Boston Red Sox put Triston Casas on the 10-day injury list on Saturday, but his season is almost certainly over.

Casas has a broken patellar tendon in the left knee, which runs out the result of a freak injury on Friday against the Minnesota twins from a floor ball. Craig Breslow, Chief Baseball Officer, said reporters that Casas has to be operated on, which probably means that he will need six months or more to get back into the plot. Only five months remain in the regular season.

In the short term, Boston will turn to Romy Gonzalez on the first basis. The Abraham Toro infield was called back from Triple-A Worcester from the Active squad in Casas.

In the long term, the Red Sox must control the rest of their 2025 season without their first Baseman.

Chris Cotillo from Masslive.com reported on Twitter/X that comprehensive imaging unveiled no other damage to the knee in Casas.

The Red Sox did not offer a specific schedule for Casas to return, but the story indicates that his recovery will be long.

In a recently carried out example, Cleveland Guardians Outfield Prospect George Valera suffered a broken patellar tendon in his right knee last September in a further collision. A surgical procedure followed and Valera received a six- to nine-month schedule for recovery. He has not played in a Minor League game this season.

The 25 -year -old Casas scored with an OPS .585 .184. He achieved 24 Homeruns in 2023 when he took third place in the Rookie of the -year votes in the American League.

Casas missed almost four full months last season with torn cartilage on the left side of his chest.

So far, the Red Sox have opposed the calls to promote Roman Anthony, the number 1 view in baseball. Although he did not play the first basis in Worcester until this point in the season, Anthony's hit Boston's Front Office could leave with little choice.

The 20 -year -old Anthony joined 26 games for the Top Farm team from Red Sox in 26 games on Friday with a slash line of .290/.422/.527. It ran almost as often (22) as he divided (25).

Manager Alex Cora informed the reporters on Saturday that Rafael -devers Boston's primary DH would remain.
