OSP protocol: Vernonia man who were killed in the frontal crash while trying to pass several vehicles

Saturday, April 26th

• 2:29 p.m. The soldiers reacted to an accident with two vehicles on the Highway 30 near Clatskanie, the Daren James McLeod, 48, drove from Clatskanie. The preliminary investigation by OSP showed that McLeod drove to the east on Highway 30 in a Volkswagen Jetta when he crossed the center line into oncoming traffic and fell frontally into a Ford F-350 that transported a camping trailer. McLeod was declared deceased at the crime scene. The driver of the Ford, a 63-year-old Hammond man, suffered minor injuries.

Sunday, April 27th

• 6:20 a.m. soldiers reacted to an accident with a single vehicle on Interstate 5 south of Wilsonville, which led the life of Alena Yesenia Gudino, 28, from Woodburn. The preliminary examination of OSP showed that Gudino drove north in a BMW 530i and tried to leave, left the street, drove through a grassy shoulder and hit several trees. Gudino was declared deceased at the crime scene.

Tuesday, April 29th

• 6:24 a.m. soldiers reacted to a three-vehicle crash on the Highway 26 in Clatsop County between Necanicum Junction and Elsie, who took the life of Michael L. Skillin, 56, from Vernonia. The preliminary examination of OSP showed that Skillin drove west in a Ford F-350, and when he tried to pass several commercial vehicles, another Ford F-350 met, which was driven by a 50-year-old man from Naselle, Washington. Skillins F-350 then hit the trailer of a semi-slingshot in the west, which was driven by a 55-year-old Salem man. Skillin was declared deceased at the crime scene. A passenger in the vehicle, a 9-year-old girl, suffered minor injuries and was taken to a hospital. The driver of the Ford F-350, which was hit, also suffered minor injuries and was taken to the hospital. The truck driver was supposedly not injured. OSP said that speed and insecure exist as the main factors for the cause of the crash.
