Government time against electricity: highlights, statistics, quotes

On Friday evening, Lynn Biyendolo scored her first goal for Seattle Reign, and the home team organized a 1-0 win against the league leader in Kansas City Current. Jordyn Huitema received the support after scoring her first goal last week.

It was a coarse -grained, organized defensive performance for the reign, which for the first time this season held the best offensive team in the league goalless.

The reign (3-2-2) will be back home with a Mother's Day game the next weekend. You will organize the Houston Dash (2-4-1) in Lumen Field with kickoff at 5 p.m. PT. This agreement is broadcast locally on Fox 13+ and streamed on NWSL+ and Paramount+.

Your thoughts about the match:

I thought big team efforts. Only a complete team performance that was committed to the schedule had committed to it, believed in it and received the reward.

About how this performance is compared with her match against Orlando:

I would say similarly. I really think that our achievements in seven games were consistent. I think there was a Blip in the Angel City game in which we did not appear, and that doesn't always mean that you will achieve the result, but I think what I am really proud tonight was that you did all the terrible things better than we did against some of the teams, Portland. We spoke in Bay after the game of last week.

And I think we are a team in which we have to respect who we are, but we also have to respect the opponent. And that takes a little humility to do this to shop. And while we continue to move and perform and perform, times will come in which we do not have to respect the opponent so much, but Orlando and Kansas are currently very dominant teams in this league. And I think the two performances we have against these two teams and obviously achieve a result as this evening. It only shows the growth of where we are, what we lose three weeks ago, four weeks ago, and four weeks later we have a win. So we climb, we do all the things we know about to do it to get better. And as I said, you will not always achieve the result if this is the case. But tonight I'm very, very happy that we did it.

In the defensive performance of the team:

Yes, I thought Sam [Meza] and HAZ [Angharad James-Turner] Worked very hard and broke a lot, and we asked many of them. They cover a lot of soil. I thought Jordyn Huitema was also exceptional. I thought she covered so much soil tonight and Ana [Crnogorčević] Maddie Curry has obviously thrown back in the right wing last week and we discussed all week. Were we going to go with Ana and Maddie dahlias as both hybrid full -backs and a little more defensive and a bit more defensive on the other? And I thought they were all great, but I also think they have to write the three back. I thought JB [Jordyn Bugg]Phoebe [McClernon] and Lu [Lauren Barnes] Stand up, was counted, did not do everything brilliant, but everything was done really well and really canceled her threat, which is really difficult to do.

To Jordyn Huitema's performances this year:

To be honest, I think I have to crank you a little. You gave her a bit of stick and I think she answers. And I don't say that it is someone in this room, but I just think that media gave her a bit of stick, and I think she got a bit between her teeth to prove. And I actually spoke to Vlatko [Andonovski] Before the game and we talked about the age of our team and I said Jordan is 23 years old. And he said, “Whoa, she is still 23.” And that forgets; She has been long, but she is still super young and I think she came out this season, she has taken on a leadership role in the team. She gave the tone as a staff in which she went through the door to say, I want to score goals, I want to help, I want you to help me to be better with these things. And we were like playing on, let's go. So I give her all the recognition, but I think she had a bit between her teeth to prove what she believes and what we believe that she is there. And I'm just happy for you. I have a lot of time for Jordyn. She works really, very hard and did again tonight. I found a defensive effort exceptionally tonight and she gets a little reward with assist.

How it felt that they first meet them with the reign:

Lynn: Yes, we did a lot of work this season this season and I think that what is incredible about this club is the way you greeted me. But greet everyone who is new here. It definitely feels like a family. I felt like my transition, you never really know how a club will accept you. I have the feeling that I was only accepted for what I am. To score for a club that is as if I was speechless, and after the game that jumps on me, I just think that it is really something special. And then as far as the goal is concerned, we got a corner, Jordan put it back in the mix and it is only our job to get back on it. And so I tried my left and Bia blocked it. And so I said let's go again. And I've just seen it.

About her self -confidence and how she feels this season:

Claudia: Yes, I wouldn't really say that I actually had to save the team very much. I think we did much better this year this year to defend the box and limit the chances. We talked about it as a group. I think we only allow four or five chances per game. And I think that depends on the defense, midfield and the striker. And of course I'm the last line of defense, but it's my job to do what everyone else is doing. I think it was very different this year and I think I'm very excited about how we play and where it looks and win the games we made and to play as we are. I think it is recognition for how much work we have and yes, my whole trust comes from people in front of me. So yes, they trusted me and then we trusted each other and I think it works well for us.

When this result feels like a catalyst:

Lynn: Yes, I mean, Kansas City is obviously a great team. They started the season and built up last year and also have a lot of experience in this team. I think this is of course a team for us that we want to beat, but every single team that we want to kick against us. And so we focus more on ourselves. I know that Claudia spoke about last year. Obviously it wasn't here, but last year was not the year that someone wanted here. Our goal is how we improve and every week, every day, every day, and the game look better and don't look ahead. And so that we can achieve this performance with a young team like Claudia, said people who come back and put their bodies back into a line, I think that the feeling of feeling that we know that if we meet a tough opponent, where it may not have seen the most beautiful game you've ever seen.

I think we build every single week and see what we can get better. And every week I think we got better. But when it comes to just screaming, I think that the team builds and really unites people. People will risk their bodies so that they can do something, and I think that enables us to still grow. And so yes, I would say that this definitely helps, but I don't know if it is who is like: Oh my god, we will do it. It's more like, no, we have now done what was behind us. What is our next opponent and how will we beat you?

What their performance taught them against Orlando:

Claudia: We were really frustrated to Orlando because we knew that we played well and we knew that we were supposed to be honest with all the chances we had. And I think it was like: Oh, we are at this level. I think what we said that last year was so difficult in many ways, but it is as if Orlando was like that, oh, we have so much potential and we are there, we just have to end it and we have to repair these little things. And I think we do that every day in training. It is like all the small mistakes that we used to do in the season, they will still make them. But I think we were back to the fact that we try to repair them in training, and I think it is related to the game. We do not give up the same goals that we gave up earlier in the year or even last year.

I think it is recognition for the coaches, employees, it is a credit for the players. I think everyone is only ready to invest the work and we can play at this level. Tonight, tonight, towards the end of the game, nobody wants to have to kick the ball for a long time every time, but that's what you have to do in this league to win. And I think we are struggling with Orlando. It is as if we have so many chances and we couldn't finish. And tonight Lynn appears for us and ends one of the few chances we have. I think it was fun, but I think Orlando was a bit like, Wera, we can do that. And then we do this now and only believe in each other and we are going to go with it.
