When the Toronto Blue Jays Max Scherzer maintained $ 15.5 million in February, the move had had the type of sums that they received when a veteran MLB Gunslinger was tested in the city of Schlendert-Battle, scarred, but is still able to spin heating. However, Scherzer's 2025 season would be almost immediately after the beginning of the beginning.

A rocky start from the goal

Scherzer's debut was short -term. At his first start at the opening weekend, the three-time cy Young winner was thrown after only three innings and 45 parking spaces. The culprit? A LAT load that was bound to a gnawing thumb problem that had bothered him behind the scenes. This first setback ended up on the injured list with the right thumb inflammation on March 30th.

What followed was a frustrating route of the start-and-stop progress days of throwing more complaints, and the rehab seemed to be in a neutral socket. It was like trying to drive halfway with the parking brake: a little movement, but not a real dynamic.

Turn around the corner

But in the past a week or two things have finally started to click. According to Ben Nicholson-Smith from Sportsnet, Scherzer has improved his bullpen sessions to “severe” intensity. The next logical step? Live hitter.

“Max Scherzer threw a” heavy bullpen “today,” quoted Nicholson-Smith manager John Schneider. “Scherzer's progress and the next steps would ideally face each other in a live BP setting, followed by a rehab.”

It has not yet been confirmed whether his next excursion will be Live BP or another bullpen meeting, but the direction is clear. Scherzer Zug finally leaves the train station.

What's next?

As soon as he starts throwing Live rackets, it is a plan that Scherzer generates several rehabilitation starts in the minors before he gets green light for a complete return. The Blue Jays don't rush about it – when you signed a man with Scherzer Résumé, the goal of quality is over speed. Last season he registered 43.1 Innings with an ERA of 3.95 ERA for the Texas Rangers, and the expectations in Toronto are no less ambitious, but of course contain more frames.

Now the focus is on how quickly Scherzer can shake off the rust and join a blue Jay's rotation that its fire could certainly use.
