3x NBA champion sends a warm message to Gregg Popovich

While nothing was said or officially made, it was clear that Gregg Popovich's days when the head coach of San Antonio Spurs would not take much longer after the health complications for the rest of the 2024-25 season were kept out of the race. Now, with the season, the Spurs finally made it officially that Popovich will go on a new role and that Interims coach Mitch Johnson will take over.

Popovich is one of the most successful coaches in the history of NBA history and organizes the record for most coaching wins of all time in NBA history. When they see the news, several former players expressed their thoughts, including a former Spurs champion.

The former Spurs Sharpshooter Danny Green went to his X account to express his thoughts about Popovich's transition from head coach to President of Basketball operations.

“Pop, where do I start … as a late 2. round with a lot to prove, and you greeted me and taught me how to be a professional on and outside the square. 7+ Seasons later, I am so grateful for all the success, experiences and memories that we shared.”

Green began his career in Cleveland next to Lebron James and the Cavaliers, but was canceled after his rookie season and joined the Spurs. From there it became an integral part of the organization and made a name for himself as a knockdown shooter.
