Oura Ring against Apple Watch: The best fitness tracker for 2025

Do you remember the days of the pedometers? These clip-on levels once have a simple analogous data, like the climax of health tracking. It is certain to say that the pedometers now feel a little primitive. They are integrated into our phones and a basic function for all best fitness trackers.

Nowadays in the fitness tech game only about making sensors in all their favorite accessories. A watch? Make it smart. A ring? That too. What if you somehow add artificial intelligence? Even better (at least theoretically). At the moment Apple and oura are two of the biggest names in fitness trackers. Both brands follow a different approach through their flagship products, the Apple Watch Series 10 and the Oura Ring 4, but is one better than the other? Not quite.

Both fitness trackers offer such comprehensive health surveillance that the right choice only depends on their priorities. And frankly they work better together.

Here you will find everything you need to know about the ring against Apple Watch.

The Apple Watch takes over the route of a standard smartwatch. In its over 10 iterations, it has retained its characteristic OLED display and the range of bracelets, but it has become smaller and thinner over the years.

In the meantime, the Oura ring is the latest fitness tracker: the intelligent ring. The Oura Ring 4 looks like a classic band, only a little thicker than your average wedding ring. It comes in six surfaces: silver, black, silver, stealth, gold and rose gold. It is also available in a variety of ring sizes of four to 15.

As you may have guessed, the Apple Watch feels like a standard watch model. It is easy; The latest model of series 10 ranges from 29.3 to 36.4 grams and not a classic watch face, but has either a 42 or 46 mm OLED watch face. This allows you to give a lot of space to check and answer texts or health metrics. It is a slim fit that is not in the way so that you can wear it all day. The bracelet tends to feel stiff while trying to sleep. And it is not the most aesthetically appealing device – don't ask the Internet to wear an apple guard for a wedding unless you want an ear.

In the meantime, the Oura ring has a much inconspicuous design. It is 2.88 mm thick and 7.9 mm in size, so it is certainly not a slim fit, but in my experience it doesn't bother your grip either. It looks like every old ring in the distance, but it grabs a lot of biometric records in a small package. So if you want an inconspicuous tracker, choose our A.

Both devices are waterproof so that you can wear them around the clock, even if you swim or take a shower. I should note that the Apple Watch only applies to iOS users, while the Oura ring can work with iOS and Android.

Winner: Oura Ring

Oura Ring against Apple Watch: Fitness Tracking

The actual priority in both devices is fitness tracking – that's why you invest in this device. Both monitor their activities, they can log their activity type and pursue their heart rate, steps and distances, but they do this in different ways.

With the Apple Watch, the primary sensor sits on the wrist under the watch face to collect biometric data. The smartwatch has two apps, training and fitness. Start and end the training during training and you can see your distance, stimulation and heart rate directly on your wrist. The fitness app shows you the burnt calories, hours of standing and the minutes of the movement, which you can all check directly on the clock. If you forget to start training, the Apple Watch is good at grasping activities and reminding you to start training.

Since the Oura ring follows a screenless approach to see all your health data, you have to open your smartphone and go to the Oura app. Within the app you can start training and see your step count, heart rate and blood oxygen levels. Like the Apple Watch, the sensors of oura intelligent are to recognize activities. If you forget to record training in advance, oura gives you a list of activities that you can check afterwards.

Based on the simple access to health data and telephone -free approach, the Apple Watch wins for me. If you are used together, you can track your workouts on an Apple Watch and import this data into the Oura app.

Oura Ring against Apple Watch: Sleeping tracking

As already mentioned, the Apple Watch is not my preferred sleep tracker, which is based solely on comfort. The silicone and metal straps tend to be stiff and cause symptoms overnight. Apple watches have difficulty keeping 24 hours in battery life, and constant loads can be pain.

On the other hand, the Oura ring is the perfect sleep tracker. If you are already wearing rings on your fingers around the clock, the Oura ring does not feel any other way. You could Feel uncomfortable when your hand swells at night, but that's all.

The Oura ring is also exceptionally good to recognize sleep. It not only follows how long your sleep, but also the different cycles that you go through, like rem and deep sleep. The Oura ring also makes long-term calculations. After 90 days of wear, the Oura ring calculates its chronotype so that you can learn when your body naturally wants to rest.

When it comes to the battery life, it is a child's play that the device takes the cake. The battery life of the Oura ring lasts almost a week, while the Apple Watch takes up to 24 hours of max. Both calculate quite quickly and can calculate within an hour. So if you want a device with an excellent battery life so that you can watch every waking and sleeping moment of your day, the Oura ring is the only option.

Winner: Oura Ring

Oura Ring against Apple Watch: Smart Features

The Oura ring offers a lot of health tracking advantages -it even combines with other health apps such as hint or natural cycles. However, it is only a fitness tracker, albeit a very good one.

The Apple Watch offers much more than fitness tracking. iOS users receive iPhone notifications on their watch and can even receive calls or respond to texts. You can also connect to Spotify and other apps without pulling out your phone. So if you want more for your money for your money, it is the Apple Watch.

Winner: Apple Watch

Apple Watch against Oura Ring: Cost

With regard to the costs, the Oura Ring and the Apple Watch are rather aligned. The Oura ring begins at 349 US dollars, but is on 499 US dollars based on its color selection. The Apple Watch is a little more expensive, from 399 US dollars and up to $ 1,049 when you go to titanium and stainless steel models (we do not consider this to be necessary; the aluminum models are great).

The biggest swallowing of the costs comes with the ring of the Oura. In addition to the advance costs, you have to pay a monthly subscription to access the entire range of functions of our AA. The monthly membership costs $ 5.99 per month or $ 69.99 per year.

Our winner: Use the ring and the Apple Watch together

In my eyes, the Oura Ring and Apple Watch are both winners. It only depends on what you need. If you are already in the iOS system and want to have a fitness tracker, the Apple Watch is a child's play. It contains detailed training summary and monitors your health data in a simply accessible package. Only a few taps on the wrist show their number of steps and the daily calories.

If you don't like the appearance of an Apple watch and prefer the discrete design of an intelligent ring, the Oura ring is the ideal choice. It is the best intelligent ring we tested and it offers more comfortable sleeping than the Apple Watch. Not to mention his almost one -week battery life.

But what if you want easy access to smartwatch functions on the wrist and the monitoring of a smart ring monitored around the clock? Then both get. When I compared these devices and at the same time, I found that they worked better than separated. I like starting my workouts on my watch and automatically uploading them to the Oura app. But the Oura ring offers overnight tracking, so my Apple Watch doesn't have to.
