The Ministry of Justice of Trump is suing Colorado, Denver because of “sanctuary laws”

According to Colorado and Denver city officials, the trump government comes across the guidelines and laws in connection with immigration, which they believe affect the enforcement of the federal immigration.

On Friday, the US Ministry of Justice submitted a lawsuit against the state and the city and the county of Denver and named governor Jared Polis, Attorney General Phil Weiser, Mayor Mike Johnston, Denver Sheriff Elias Diggins and the city council of Denver as defendants.

In the lawsuit it is claimed that Colorado and Denvers “Sanctuary Laws” violate the dominance clause of the constitution and argue that such laws illegally regulate the activities of the federal government that are freed from state regulation.

“The United States have well -established, outstanding and preventive powers to regulate the immigration issues,” says the lawsuit, which was submitted to the Federal Court in Denver.

The lawyers of the Ministry of Justice argue that the “Sanctuary guidelines” in Colorado of the Venezuelan gang tren de Aragua enables control over an apartment complex in Aurora.

The lawsuit strives to remove several laws, including House Bill 19-1124, Senate Bill 21-131 and House Bill 23-1100. The administration also tries to lift several denver regulations and executive regulations.

Denver officials said that the city was ready to defend its guidelines in a declaration to Denver Post.

“Denver is not bullied or blackmailed, least of an administration that takes little into account the law, and even less for the truth,” the city officials told Denver Post on Friday.

An explanation of the governor's office asked the idea that Colorado is a “sanctuary”, but refused to comment on the merits of the lawsuit.

“Colorado is not a sanctuary. The state of Colorado regularly works with local, state and state law enforcement authorities and we appreciate our partnerships with local, county and federal law enforcement authorities to make Colorado safer. If the courts are not valid, we will follow the decision,” says the declaration.

There is no strict definition for the protective guidelines or sanctuary cities, but the terms generally describe a limited local cooperation with immigration and customs authorities.

The Ministry of Justice submitted similar lawsuits against Chicago and Rochester, New York.
