14 children arrested in a campfire for the death of a boy

After the death of a 14-year-old boy in a fire in an industrial unit, fourteen children were arrested for suspected homicide.

The Northumbria police were called to Bill Quay in Gateshead in the Fairfield Industrial Park on Friday evening.

Eleven boys and three girls between the ages of 11 and 14 were arrested for suspected homicide and remain in police custody.

In a police statement it says: “Shortly after 8 p.m. yesterday (Friday) we received a report on the fire brigade of a fire near Fairfield Industrial Park in the Bill Quay area of ​​Gateshead.

“Rescue services accepted and the fire was deleted shortly later.

“Afterwards we spent an appeal for missing Boy Layton Carr last night – it was assumed that he was in the area at that time.

Unfortunately, a body of which 14-year-old Layton Carrs died in the building was according to the search plants carried out by Northumbria Police and Partners in Tyne and wearing fire and emergency services.

“His next relative has been informed and is currently supported by specialists.”

The Detective Chief Inspector Louise Jenkins from the Northumbria police said: “This is an extremely tragic incident in which a boy unfortunately lost life.

“Our thoughts are at Layton's family while trying to process the loss of their beloved person.

“Our specialists will continue to support you as you can.

“We ask that your privacy will be respected at that time.”
