Son who stabbed mom in her house in Wildomar

A man who fatally stabbed his 64-year-old mother in her house in Wildomar was convicted of life in prison on Friday, May 2, 16 years.

The 25-year-old Evan Jon Zavala owed himself guilty last month about the second degree murder and a conviction, while taking a crime in the murder of Ramona Marie Zavala used a fatal weapon.

The plea was also made when the defendant's case was asked to hear a preliminary hearing in the Southwest Justice Center.

During a hearing in Murrieta's courthouse on Friday, the judge of the Supreme Court of Riverside County, Timothy Freer, imposed the judgment based on state law.

According to Sheriff's Sgt. Lance Stoyer, shortly before 11 p.m. on April 23, 2024, patrol members were called to Ramona Zavala in the 33000 block of the Breckenridge Trail near the Gafford Road to examine reports on an attack.

Stoyer said when the MPs arrived, they found the woman who suffered from stab wounds.

The victim was brought to the Domestic Valley Medical Center, where she died a short time later.

Zavala was interviewed and taken into account without incidents on the property.

A possible motive for the attack was not made available and it was not mentioned in court files.

Zavala had not documented any documented convicts in Riverside in Riverside County.
