Mark Williams beat Judd Trump to the final with Zhao Xintong | to be erected | World Snooker Championship

Mark Williams produced a vintage performance to beat the world No. 1, Judd Trump, and booked his place in the final of the Snooker Championship in Sheffield.

The 50-year-old Williams, who won his fourth title and the oldest champion in tournament history, rolled back when he put together four centuries, and 10 breaks over 50 in a 17:14 win on the crucible.

The experienced Welsh will look at a player who is young enough to be his son in the two-day final after 28-year-old Zhao Xintong beat the seven-time champions Ronnie O'Sullivan with 17: 7 in the other semi-finals.

“I can't believe that I am in another final, I really have problems in the last two tournaments,” said Williams. “I never felt nerves, just the last few frames.”

Trump said: “I am not really disappointed, I did my best. It wasn't that far away. In the crucial moments, he was putting her and I didn't do it. He was too good for me in the three days.”

Williams, who has to struggle with his eyesight and is supposed to carry out an object of objects next month, was 7: 3 at the beginning of the second session, but fought on the level with 8: 8 and won five of the eight frames on Saturday morning to open a head start of 13: 11.

The left-hander continued, where he had stopped in the last session with breaks of 67 and 65 to move 15-11 before Trump struck his 106th century of the season to close the gap.

This ensured that an interval of the middle of the session would be necessary, but Williams went into the break, which only needed a framework for victory after he had reacted with his own century. When the game was resumed, Trump took the 29th frame to keep his hopes on life, and won the next one with an release of 116 after Williams had missed a red in the middle with his first chance to seal the victory.

Trump had the chance to stack the pressure after an excellent red to the middle in frame 31, but missed a difficult, thin black, and Williams took the opportunity with a release of 123 to seal the victory.

Williams won his first world championship title in 2000 – when Zhao was only three years old – and his youngest in 2018 when he carried out his winning conference naked – except for a towel – naked to make a promise that was previously made at the tournament.

“It is incredible. I wasn't even here twelve months ago. I saw it in a caravan,” said Williams at the time after I thought about leaving the sport in the previous year after losing the last qualification round.

Ronnie O'Sullivan believes that Zhao has what it takes to become the first Chinese winner of the World Cup, and thus a “megastar” after the 28-year-old defeated the seven-time champion to reach the final. Zhao has undertaken an extraordinary journey to the Tiegel showpiece, which begins on Sunday and ends on Monday with its recent remarkable achievement via O'Sullivan with a session.

After Zhao, after a 20-month ban for his participation in a betting scandal, passed four qualification rounds, he has seen Chris Wakelin and O'Sullivan, who reached the second player from China after Ding Junhui, for a 20-month ban.

Zhao, who plays as an amateur in Sheffield, showed his class against O'Sullivan on Friday when he won all eight frames in the morning to open a 12: 4 lead before ending the job in the evening to turn off his hero. O'Sullivan believes that Zhao, who won the British championship in 2021, is able to go all the way, and believe that it would be good for sport if he got the trophy into his hands.

He said: “I think it would be amazing. I think if he won, he would be a megastar. He is still very big in China. But when he becomes world champion [in the final]. That will be a real test for him. “
