Fatal crash on the I-91 in Thetford, driver charged

Thetford, Vt. (WCAX) – Vermont State Police from the St. Johnsbury barracks reacted to Interstate 91 in the city of Thetford at 1:54 p.m. for a registered vehicle that was tipped over.

They say that they had found a Pontiac GTO from 2004 in the southern lane near MM83.4, which beat and rolled over a guardrail.

A passenger in the vehicle, Alyssa Tetreault, 27, from Pepperell, MA, was declared dead by emergency helpers. The police say it doesn't seem to be wearing a seat belt. The driver Joseph Hamilton, 40 years old, from Plaistow, NH, was brought to Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center for serious injuries.

Two young passengers aged 8 and 5 were seating injuries and had minor injuries. As a precaution, they were also brought to DHMC.

The driver was quoted to appear in June before the Orange County Criminal Court, who was charged with great negligent operation – death.
