Captains achieve three in the ninth to beat Lugnuts, 3: 1-New Herald

Matt Wilkinson threw five shutout inside, and on May 3, the captains scored all their runs in the ninth inning to hit hosts Lansing 3-1.

With the captains, 1-0, in ninth place, band Wuilfredo Antunez the game with an RBI triple. The next blow, Maick Collado, met a victim fly to put Lake County in the lead, and Christian Knapczyk added an insurance run with an RBI double.

Knapczyk, a fifth round in 2023, had two of the seven goals from the captains. Jacob Cozart also had two. The captains were 0: 8 with runners in the score.

Wilkinson allowed two goals, struck six and went one. He lowered his era to 4.13.

Izaak Martinez came first with the captains after he was called by Low-A Lynchburg. He gave up a run in 1 2/3 innings. Jay Driver (1-0) followed with 1 1/3 innings to achieve the victory. Kyle Scott worked ninth for his first rescue.

Lake County (15-11) won three of the first five games in the series, which were completed on May 4th in Lansing.
