Local divine nine chapter host Kentucky Derby Watch Party Wonder campaign for scholarships

Suamico, Wisconsin (Wbay) -A Suamico -Watch party for the Kentucky Derby On Saturday was also a fundraising campaign that helps several high school students to prepare for college.

The event was organized by the members of the fraternity and the sisterhood of the historical organizations of the historical black Greek letters, who also disguised themselves to observe the derby at Olde 41 in Suamico.

The money collected will cover the costs for four scholarships that are to be handed over to local students who expect to complete this summer.

The President of the Ne Wisconsin chapter by Delta Sigma Theta Sorority says that for someone who has gone to a four-year university with a scholarship and gives a lot back to the next generation.

“I think we will see the workforce and the economic effects in the long term. And to be part of this level in which we can see our legacy in this way is something very special,” says Jamila Seaton.
