This is the only film that I always see at the Star Wars Day - and it is the perfect companion for "Andor"

For fans of the galaxy far away, the ultimate excuse is now to record Disney Plus.

But while others may immerse yourself in the classic Skywalker saga or the sweetest moments of Grogu, “Rogue One” is the “Star Wars” film, which I always come back on May 4th (be with you). And that's because it is mine favorite. Nobody can convince me to change my opinion about this pre -quel.

Now that the second season of “Andor” is broadcast, there is no better time to see the film new to us to fall in love with Cassian. “Rogue One” is a master class in tension, character and moral gray areas that have doubled with breathtaking results.

So here is why “Rogue One” is my favorite film in the franchise and why it deserves to be celebrated at the Star Wars Day.

Director Gareth Edwards made something very special here. Every time I play on “Rogue One”, I forget how intense it will be. There are no heroic lightsaber duels and the end is anything but comforting. Instead, they receive war -bound planets that represent the dark side of bureaucratic power within the empire.

For a brief refreshment, “Rogue One” follows Jyn Erso (Felicity Jones), the daughter of the unwilling creator of the death star when she joined a team of rebels to steal the blueprint of the super weapon.

From the deserts from Jedha to the tropical battlefields of Scarif, the group stands impossible chances. Over time and without a guarantee of survival, you risk everything to give the galaxy an opportunity against the empire.

From the moment we meet Jyn Erso (Felicity Jones), it is clear that this film does something else. It is not compulsive or determined to become a hero. Rather, it is angry, closed and honest over the whole fight. But that makes your trip so convincing.

The same applies to Cassian (Diego Luna). “Andor” takes the time to fully exploit it, but even in “Rogue One” he is a layered character. He did terrible things on behalf of the rebellion and they see the tribute.

But it is even more interesting to see how he interacts with Jyn and slowly trusts her. I only wish we could see more of yours crazy Chemistry (like hello, this elevator scene?!).

Of course there is a villain in every “Star Wars” story, and in “Rogue One” it is Orson Krennic (Ben Mendelsohn). He is the kind of villain that is scary because it is so realistic – a bureaucrat who is ready to commit mass murder just to impress his boss. Its obsession from the Death Star makes him a perfect symbol for the cold, self -in -house machinery of the empire.

Above all, “Rogue One” is one of the most beautiful “Star Wars” films that have ever been made. I could stare at kinematography all day, and that includes the darkness of Eadu, the black sandy beaches of Scarif or even the terrible shot of the Death Star, which rises over Jedha. You can practically feel the dust in your teeth.

I have to mention the end when you consider that it is quite dark for the franchise. Most films have happy ends, but “Rogue One” is bitter because the characters we love fulfill their unfortunate fate. It is tragic, yes, but it is also the most hopeful end that the saga has ever given us.

I think that is why “Rogue One” sticks to me. There are no blows. It shows the cracks, the compromise, humanity. And somehow it finds hope in all the grit – as kitschy that sounds.

“Rogue One” is an independent story that deepens the entire saga. On the Star Wars day, when the whole Galaxy feels on Shuffle, “Rogue One” feels that is really important and has deserved its place through Grit, victim and a story that doesn't shrug.

With “Andor” season 2 it is currently not a better time to visit “Rogue One” again, as it is the perfect accompanying piece. The second season will lead directly to the events of the film, which means that the show will watch and the film gives much more weight on Cassian's journey.

Even if you are not fully aware of the vastness of the “Star Wars” universe, you can enjoy this prequel without prior expectations or background knowledge.

So yes, “Rogue One” is the film that I like to see on May 4th to celebrate such an iconic franchise. It's really that Violence That lets me come back every year.
