JJ Hardy on foot injury: “It's definitely frustrating”

Orioles manager Buck Showter had Manny Machado At the third basis in its original line -up. They met in his office with a closed door before they have the impact practice, and Machado later appeared as a shortstop.

Ryan Flaherty Starts on the third basis. Macado over -the -me -aged to make the switch.

“I have the right,” said show age.

The Orioles do not set a schedule for JJ Hardy's Return from a hairline in his left foot. Showalter said it could take six to eight weeks earlier.

“I don't want to use a schedule just because I don't want to be disappointed if I don't reach it or when I put you and try to tear back,” said Hardy, who was put on the disabled list today.

“I have never broken a bone in my body, so I don't know how long it will take. I have read six to eight weeks and many of you wrote that. To be honest, I have no idea.

“I heard hair facilities fracture. Honesty, I wasn't even in the training room. I spoke to Dr. (Michael) Jacobs for a few minutes yesterday when he saw the results of the CT scan and the MRI. He only told me that there was a little crack and I will be in the trunk for two or three weeks.”

Hardy suffered the injury after having dirty a ball from his foot during the game on Sunday. He went for a walk and returned to his position in the top of the fifth inning before going out.

“I had an idea after the game or when I came out of the game that something was wrong,” said Hardy. “Then, obviously with the X-ray, they wanted to see a little closer. They somehow gave me a little head-up that could be wrong.

“After I fouled the ball from my foot, I didn't think too much about it. I mean it hurt, but it was not terrible. I jogged the first basis and felt the same, nothing terrible. When I got out in the field and the more I moved around, it got worse instead of loosening or going away. I knew that it was something.”

The disappointment is enlarged because Hardy's left shoulder is fine. His back is not applied. Breaking a bone in his foot is a freak accident that has put it back onto the disabled list.

“It's definitely frustrating,” he said. “I felt as good as I can remember. I mean, I don't know when I felt the last time I felt so good. It's definitely frustrating. I will only try to come back as soon as possible.”
